Tulipa
Tulipa is the most famous genus of all bulbous plants around the world. The genus contains more than 100 species, native to Europe and Asia, though their name is associated with Holland, where they are more widely cultivated than in any other part of the world.They are herbaceous plants with large, lanceolate, green leaves and one big flower borne by a central stem in spring.

According to their bloom form and their flowering season, they are classified into 15 divisions:
1) Single early group (cup-shaped flowers)
2) Double early group (bowl-shaped)
3)Triumph (medium or late-flowering varieties with single, cup-shaped flowers)
4) Darwin hybrid group (medium or late-flowering varieties with single, egg-shaped flowers
5) Single late group with cup-shaped flowers
6) Lily-flowered group (single, lilium-shaped flowers with lanceolate tips)
7) Fringed group (cup-shaped flowers with fringed petals)
8) Viridiflora group (late-flowering varieties with single, cup-shaped flowers)
9) Rembrandt group (late-flowering varieties with single, cup-shaped flowers)
10) Parrot group (single flowers)
11) Double late group (cup-shaped flowers)
12) Kaufmanniana group (early or medium flowering varieties with single, cup-shaped flowers)
13) Fosteriana group (medium varieties with single, bowl-shaped flowers)
14) Greigii group (early or medium flowering varieties with single, cup-shaped flowers)
15) Miscellaneous group (comprises all species and hybrids not included in other divisions)

Grow in full sun and in humus-rich, well-drained, moderately moist soils. Remove bulbs after the falling of the leaves and store them in a dark and cool place, to be replanted in late autumn, at a depth of 2-3 times the size of the bulb. Remove flowering stem after the end of the flowering to stimulate a bigger bulb growth.

Plant in groups, in flower gardens, rock gardens and in flowerpots.
Propagate by bulblet division.
